The Meade Institute is a collective of information to support children’s well-being, particularly families struggling with childhood weight issues. Over the past decades, our environment and genetics have changed. Our modern environment presents new food choices, new activities, new screen devices, new stressors, and less rest. Learning to adapt to our modern environment can help us raise happy and healthy children.

Over 40% of children struggle with weight problems, and parents often struggle to help them. Helping children starts with the basics of physical, emotional, and social well-being. Addressing your whole child through the pillars of well-being can help them to have a healthy, happy future.

Managing weight is more complex than eating less and exercising more.

Individual bodies respond differently: to food, to exercise, to stress, and to sleep. Factors such as genetics, gut microbiome, environment, stress and many other things outside of our control all contribute to our body composition.

Change starts with working together as a family to build healthy habits. Changing habits is not easy, but setting small goals can help make big shifts for your child and your family. Learning the tools to control weight now will set your child up to thrive in the future.

Meet Dr. Meade

Hi, I'm Dr. Carley Meade. I'm passionate about helping patients and families thrive.

More than 40% of children and 70% of adults in America are overweight or obese, and I work every day towards changing those statistics. Excess weight comes with consequences — both physical and psychological — and my goal is to help children and adolescents avoid those consequences and live their healthiest lives.

I'm glad you're here, and I hope The Meade Institute will be a helpful resource for you and your family on the journey to better health and well-being.
